Pictures from a Sunday stroll along the Danube canal. We were enjoying a little bit of sun, even though it was freeezing cold. Today is also sunny, but different from yesterday there's snow too. Booh! I want spring.

World Refugee Day

We celebrated World Refugee Day this past Saturday in Bunkerei (a Biergarten/music venue) located just around the corner from us in the very lovely Augarten. I miss being involved with refugee work - something I sadly haven't touched since moving to Vienna (I tried getting involved with some volunteer projects when arriving, but that didn't pan out...). Anyways, it was great music, inspiring talks and people of all ages and skin colors going craaazy on the dance floor. Simply lovely!

On another note, I made it to Denmark and back without any issues. While it was great to be back home for a brief visit to celebrate my old grandmother turning 90 (with a heck of party!), it is equally nice coming back to Vienna where things at the moment are happening in a much slower pace.

Christmas Lights

Both of us are missing sunny California and the peeps there dearly (god knows how long that will last?!), but noone can deny that Vienna is absolutely stunning at Christmas time.

Happy Bubbles

As we walked through the city center the other night, we passed by some of the many street artists that are entertaining the extensive amount of tourists during the summer months. One of them was a guy, who was making giant soap bubbles for kids to pop. Dads were running around with kids on their shoulders to chase the bubbles, and the kids were shrieking with joy, when they managed to burst the big bubbles. It was so extremely simple and yet everybody in the international touristy crowd smiled and laughed by the scene. I was reminded how little it takes for people to laugh together of the same thing in spite of different languages, beliefs, etc.
